Basement Windows

Windows can make your basement appear more pleasing and offer added safety. Large basement windows, sometimes referred to as "egress windows," from Pella of Eau Claire are made to let more light into underground rooms than the older, smaller, rectangular windows that are added above ground. They also offer an escape in case of an emergency.

The main distinction between basement, or egress, windows and standard windows is that basement windows have to be large enough for an average-sized person to get out in order to meet safety requirements outlined in building codes. You can pick from appropriately sized casement, sliding or double-hung windows when you add basement windows. Be sure you fully understand local building codes before you purchase basement windows.
